THE STORY July 12, 1979 at Comiskey Park was the night disco went up in smoke…literally. The highlight of the night was supposed to be the blowing up
On that day, Chicago DJ Steve Dahl was hired to lead Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park. With fans shouting, Disco Sucks, a crate of disco records was blown up on the field. What no one expected was for the fans to rush that field and the day ended in a riot. This became one of the most extreme promotions in major league history.
